Food For Thought

Category: By Jenson
It reads "Braised Deer Tail Soup with Abalone - RM 170 per bowl." That's not the part I am concerned about. The part that had me questioning is this. "Reliefs the joint pain, enhances body and masculine needs". Is this true?

From Shark's fin to deer's tail, these food are considered exotic. I assume. Well, do deer tails really help in relieving joint pain? Not just that, there are few other deer parts that are said to help in improving and enhancing certain part of the human body. Deer antlers for instance, are said to:
  • strengthen immune system
  • improve sore muscles on limbs
  • improves the efficiency of the kidneys
  • revitalize your body and gives you extra energy
  • as well as, improving blood circulation and blood volume
Awfully alot of benefits for just an antler right? Wait, there's this benefit that somehow amused me. It is said that the main purpose or belief is that the deer antlers actually improves sexual disorders in men. Interesting isn't it? Come to think of it, from the economics point of view, the increased of demand for deer antlers are due to this benefit? There's also the deer pizzles. Know what a 'pizzle' really is? I somehow can't seem to find for the definition in the dictionary but I used wikipedia to look for it. Actually, looking at the benefits can actually help describe what pizzles really are. The 'pizzles' are believed to help improve the kidney function (that's one), good for male sexuality (that's two) and increases the number of sperms (that's three and wootofook). By now you can guess what pizzles actually are right? Sure, increasing the number of sperms by consuming an animal's pizzle. Wonderful. How in the world would a pizzle improves the quantity of sperms in a human body? Where's the logic in this? Of all animals, why a deer? Why not an elephant? Elephant has a bigger 'pizzle' right? Here's some links that can provide more information :

So, deers are first hunted down, antlers sawed off, following by their tails which are cut off and their 'pizzles' being plucked off; All for the good of mankind. Cheers! So deers aren't exactly hunted for their meat after all. Not just deers. Many more animals are being hunted for certain purposes or maybe similiar purposes. Black bears is of one good example. Yes, they are cute. Just wait till you see how they are being hunted and treated before ending up on the dinner table. They are basically hunted for their gall bladder which are believed to help improve lots of 'malfunctions' and cure ailments. I don't even want to start on the crocodile meat. To be exact, these sort of delicacies are popular among the Chinese. As a matter of fact, I am a Chinese and I don't feel proud on that. I don't consume this dishes in the first place well except for shark's fin. A reason to back up on the consumption of shark's fin: There are mostly made out of flour and with certain ingredients here in Malaysia, as shark's fin don't come in strands. They can make them look exactly like a shark's fin.

So until today, they are still the most popular chinese delicacy, Even Yao Ming, the NBA basketball star from China had made a press conference in 2006 on advising people to stop eating shark's fin but guess what? During his marriage dinner, the very first dish was Sharks fin! I guess he knew that those shark's fin might be flour very well after all. No offense to him but Shark's Fin is a must have in Chinese wedding dinners. It signifies the lavishness of the marriage. As, the dish is after all quite expensive. A random confession: I used to attend marriages for the sake of enjoying the Shark's Fin Soup. Anyway, I do have deer meat once in awhile but never the other parts..

They are good, they are believed to improve my health but do you know what the animal went through before ending up as a dish on your dinner table? I am sure that most of you people might have seen the advertisement on Discovery or National Geographic channel on how the Black Bears are treated right? Awful I tell you. Some individuals had turned vegetarian after watching how the bears are treated. Not just the black bears actually, other animals like elephants which are hunted for their tusks, crocodiles for their leather skins and monkeys for their brains. From Elephant tusks can make my home prettier and leather bags are more attractive to Monkey brains.. I don't know what the benefit is but I am sure you won't get any smarter by consuming the brain. If you're a smart in the first place, you wont be tying the poor monkey up, put a table with a hole in the middle on top of the monkey, sawing the head off and then scooping its brain with a spoon while the monkey is screaming for its life. Of course, this practise had long been banned though. It's just a random example.

Truthfully, I do hope that all these senseless killings can stop. Havent they thought about this before?:
  • You're a human, so a human pizzle might do the 'magic'
  • You're a human, human bladder might do the cure
  • You're a human, human teeth might serve as a better decoration
  • You're a human, human skin might be more attractive
  • You're a human, human brains might get you smarter
Cannibalism. It's a joke. I don't even want to get into that. I wrote all these not because I want to make a joke out of it. Either way, know what PETA is? PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatments for Animals. You should see to what extent they went to go against the killings on the animals. One for example; Campaigns on ending fur and leather usage. Celebrities going naked on posters or people going naked on the streets during a campaign.Like I mentioned earlier, turning vegetarian is also one way. These are the people that are really into ending the miseries the animals are facing. Kudos to PETA! I just want to contribute by creating an awareness even if it this post is only a small contribution. Seeing the pictures I recieved from my friend who's studying Wildlife Management and Vertebrate Zoology, I won't be having much Shark's fin no more in future. Many thanks to him. Anyway, Ambassadors from the Wildlife protection had urged the people to stop buying or demanding for this sort of products and delicacies. Like they always say;

When the buying stops, the killing can too!

PS : Forgive me if the post offends anyone.

Responsibility and Justice

Category: By Jenson
Someone broke your heart, you went home and locked yourself in your room. Flashes of the sweet memorable moments kept playing through your mind. Just last week you were talking about getting married in the future. The painful truth had just pierced through your heart. He had just left you for your best friend. Thinking that you are all alone by yourself, and thought that life is so unfair and there's no point to live any longer, you took a pair of razor sharp scissors getting ready to end your misrable life. Having no second thoughts on what the consequences will be, you are about to slit your wrists when you hear a soft whimper behind you. It was your brand new puppy that your parents got for you as a birthday present. You remembered that you promised your parents to take good care of it. With tears flowing down your cheeks, you took Otis into your arms and gave him a hug.

-----------------------------------------------
The above abstract was a true story which a close friend of mine had actually underwent. Of course, she allowed me to publish a small part of the story in my blog as long I have her name anonymous. Just a small fraction of an incredible story. Well of course, this post is certainly not about the responsibilities in a relationshiop nor a love story nor about vengeance. It's basicallyabout the pet we have at home. Having a pet is always fun. There's always someone by your side, whether to play or be by your side. Undeniably, it's always good to have a pet. A cute puppy or kitten might just cheer anyone's day up by just a look at it. After all, a pet has to eat, sleep and most importantly cared for. They care for us and in return we should care for them. Getting straight to the point, the reason I posted this post is regarding the many animal cruelty cases that is still happening in throughout the world. Some pets aren't just as lucky as the others. Instead of getting the deserved love and care, they are abused.

Abuse exist in the mind of a person when he or she enjoys hurting someone else whether through emotions, physical harms or sexual harms. In this case, animal cruelty is more likely to be labelled as pet abuse. There's 2 types of pet abuse. The first, being the passive cruelty. Passive cruelty are acts of omission and such act is recognised as neglect. Negelect may sound painless but don't let the term influence you. Let me categorize the types of neglect that those useless monsters did to their pets:
  • Dehydration
  • Starvation
  • Parasite Infestations
  • Having the collar grow into the pet's skin
  • Inappropriate shelter in harsh weathers
  • Failing to seek a veterinary care when the pet is sick
One can never understand the mind of an abuser. The other sort of abuse would be the active cruelty which in contrast of passive cruelty, is an act of comission. This sort of abuse is more common as compared to the act of neglect. It is where the owners has malicious intent to deliberately hurt their pets. Why do people even want to injure their very own pets? Some cases occur in violent homes. An abusive domestic partner may injure the pet to intimidate the others. Such scenes are described as despicable.

A few years back, I used to attend a chinese tuition class nearby my house. She lived with her husband who was an engineer and they had a german shepherd as a pet. When I first saw the dog, it wasn't really in a good shape. I didn't care much as I left the tuition the following year due to some packed timetable. In the year itself, I saw an article regarding a dog which was being neglected by its owner in The Star. I was horrified when I found out that the dog was of my tuition teacher's! The dog was reported to be a victim of neglect. The dog was initially infested with tick but seeing the condition it is in, the vets decided to put it to sleep to end its misery. A post mortem reveals that the dog had an empty stomach, shrunken kidneys, a brittle ribcage which indicates inadequate nutrition over the years, and haemorrhage in its lungs, a sign of pneumonia. Also, its nails were long and curved into its paws; each time it tries to walk it hurts. See, still think that neglect sounds painless? The only thing the owner said was that he was too busy with his work and household chores so he couldn't find the time to crae for it. So?! Then why get a dog?!!

This article can be found in the following link:
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2005/10/18/courts/12347380&sec=courts

It hurts to see such a pet being treated this way. The only punishment the idiot got was a RM100 fine. A RM100 fine?!! Where is justice?! How can he get a RM100 fine for killing his own pet?! Should'nt there be a more serious punishment? We should really work on something to help protect the rights of the animals. I am doing my part in raising awareness of animal cruelty here already and of course would be interested in doing more. If you suspect your neighbours or yourself to have been abusing your pet, try contacting the local pet awareness body for help and advise.

Extraordinary Abilities

Category: By Jenson
Before I start, I would like to say that me and my friend, Johnathan had collaborated on writing in a blog together. The blog would be known as [Z]eaox. So far, we had not actually posted anything on the blog yet but we will update in no time! So, do drop by then!

-------------------------------------------------

Ever thought of flying? From levitating yourself to flying across the busy highways; avoiding the massive jams as easy as that. Ever thought of reading someone else's thoughts? What are they thinking? What are they planning? These are examples of what we call extraordinary abilities. Take the movie Heroes for instance, it's a drama series about several individuals who discovered that they have extraordinary abilities that no one else has. [Still waiting for the premier of Season 3!!] It just one of my favourite drama series of all time as it reflects the imagination and fantasies running through my mind ever since I was a little kid. I was first exposed to these super powers back when I was only 6, holding my first ever issue of the acclaimed manga Dragon Ball. From there, my imaginations starts running till now. I am sure that I am not the sole person in the world who only imagine having extraordinary abilities; thinking on how cool it would be having these abilities. Showing off to others; especially the girls. You guys know what I mean.

In our present world of ours, these extraordinary abilities are being recorded from time to time from various individuals around the world. Abilities ranging from telekinesis [an ability that is able to move objects with the power of the mind] to Retrocognition [an ability that enables an individual to look into the past through touching any objects or person]. Yes indeed, there are reports of people having these abilities. There are some reknown individuals with these abilities that i came across while I was researching on this particular fact.

Ninel Sergeyevna Kulagina borned in 1926 into the nationality of the Soviet, she is quite an impressive woman. Having 4 possible extraordinary abilities, she is one famous person in her time. The 4 abilities consist of Magnetism, Telekinesis, Psychokinesis and Fingertip Vision. Her possible extraordinary feats had been recorded and can be found mostly on Youtube. Imagining having 4 abiltities like Miss Ninel here. What would it be like to move objects with the power of our mind? More importantly, how is the feeling of it like?

You can find about her more from the following URL links:

Edgar Cayce; Better known to many as the Sleep talker; borned an American in March 18, 1877. Unlike Ninel, Edgar only has 1 possible extraordinary ability. He has the ability known to many as Clairvoyance. This ability enables the user to know about a person, place, thing, or event without using the ordinary five senses to gather that information. Edgar would lie down and close his eyes, and a visitor or more likely a patient would ask him a question. He will respond, and his answers were remarkably intelligent and helpful. Surprisingly, Edgar wasn't highly educated. After the session between him and the visitor, Edgar could not recall anything of what he had said.

The following individual is one of the youngest surgeon in the world.

Akrit Jaswal; Borned April 23, 1993 and has never attended a medical school before. Akrit is said to be one of the luckiest individual alive as he has the ability known as advanced intelligence. Whether anot this can be classified as an extraordinary ability, it still remains skeptical to me. Getting straight to the point, when Akrit was an infant, instead of starting to crawl like any other ordinary babies would, he started to learn how to walk. At the tender age of 10 months, he said his first words. By the age of 4 he was already reading Shakespeare. The title, youngest surgeon in the world was bestowed to him at the age of 7. He met an 8-year-old girl whose fingers had been burnt as a baby and were fused together. At that very same year, he performed an operation to seperate the fingers. Having such intelligence is indeed special. Guess what? Akrit vows to find a cure for cancer for as long as he is still alive.

A link to provide further details on Akrit Jaswal :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9BrgT0s9eQ

In the video itself, I myself could not understand what he was saying. He was speaking medicine and biology. At that age where he is not even in his teen yet, he is able to engage in a converation with 2 expert physician like normal conversation on cancer.

To conclude this short research on extraordinary abilities I would want to give a shoutout to all everyone out there. Even though we are borned ordinary unlike the above mentioned 3 individuals; we are special. Don't be depressed and disappointed for not being able to levitate, sitting down staring at the ruler of yours for hours and even staring at someone immensely as if trying to get into his mind. Just be happy for who you are.

Cellphones

Category: By Jenson
In our world at this very moment, technology is evolving at such rapid pace that no one knows what would happen in the next few years; maybe even months; probably weeks or even the next day? Perhaps? Our parents might fire our very own housekeeper the next day when the Robo Butler is introduced. No mistakes, no complains, just switch it on in the morning and plug in and leave it to charge in the night. Simple as that. Of course, it's just an example. No one will ever know what sort of product will penetrate the market and end up being your very own favourite entertainment device. The newly launched PS3? The introduction of Wi-Fi? The introduction to more portable game consoles? Well, the device I would like to highlight about in this post will be the none other, cellphones. I am sure that every each of us out there would certainly have a cellphone; if not, most liekly would want to have a cellphone. Children as young as 8 already own a cellphone. Not to say own, but was given a cellphone by their parents. A few weeks back, in a restaurant, this kid aged about 10 or something, recieved a call. I looked over and guess what? He pulled out a bloody Nokia N81 8GB. I pulled out my cellphone and looked at it. It's a N73 modle which I bought it 2 years back.

At such young age, would it be appropriate that a mere child like this is give a cellphone? Arguments? Some would say, it's easier to contact and ask the whereabouts of the kid. Well, is this reason good enough? The main issue I written this post is not to argue that why children as young as 8 could own a bloody Nokia N81 and why can't I? No of course, no. That's plain dumb. The main issue is that, parents do not know that there's a risk in giving cellphones to their children of such young age. Lately, I am sure that everyone is well aware of the radiation articles and reports of the cellphones published in the newspaper or TV news reports right? Actually, this issue had been around for a long time; teh very first issue of this cellphone radiation was dated back to February 5 1993 written by a certain journalist by the name John McCormick.

Here's the link to the article : http://www.goaegis.com/articles/newsbytes_020593.html

What we do not know is that the children are more prone to the radiation as compared to the adults. Obviously it's because we have fully developed skulls and the radiation will take a longer period of time to fully affect us. When we talk through the cellphone, our voice will be transmitted as radio frequency radiation. This particular radiation is hazardous to our health if we are exposed to it. As a matter of fact, each time we use the cellphone, we are exposed to it. Children usin cellphones at such young age bears a greater risk as comapred to us adults. Parents that do not know of the risk will regret in the years to come. It might be too late to regret by then. Therefore, I urge parents to think twice before giving their beloved children cellphones. Not to say that chilren are the only victims around here, the adults too are suffering from illness due to the long term exposure of the cellphone radiation.

Back then, I used to envy over my friends who has 2-3 cellphones with them. It was a sight to behold when u recieve a call. Pulling out the other phone when you yourself know which phone is ringing. It was plain stupid. "Wow, you got 3 cellphones. You sure are a lucky fella.". If I see a friend of mine doing this now, "Wow, you got 3 cellphones. My deepest sympathies to you." Cool? Not. Instead of seeing a coolio, I see a half dead person. Well, there's never the best cellphone ever. Like I said earlier, technology is evolcing at a rapid pace, so do the cellphones. New models of cellphones are always introduced to the competitive market. More sophiscated applications and devices installed to compete with other brands of cellphones. First cellphones were made portable telephones where the sole function was to make a call. Now, we can go online, tell the time, play games, e-mail and watch TV. Whatever happened to the very main reason the cellphones were made. Of course, it is known that the more sophiscated the cellphone is, the more dangerous the radiation will be. So i suggest evryone to trade in their handphones and get themselves a Nokia 252. Look, it even has an antenna! Of course! If we use earphones, then we won't be exposed to the radiation at all! Right? It's not right actually. Recent reports stated that using the earphones may actually help to intensify the exposure to the radiation emitted by the cellphones.

You guys know the saying very well? "I can't live without my cellphone!"? or maybe "No cellphone, No life" Hah! Think again. Right now, I am trying my very best to limit myself to using my cellphone; even better trying my very best to keep myself away from it. I wouldn't even want to start about the risk of Wi-Fi yet. The world is changing, with the latest technology to serve and provide mankind with comfort. Is it true?

Cryptozoology

Category: By Jenson
Does the word Cryptozoology rings any bell? Cryptozoology is a research on animals that are thought to be extinct and animals that are thought to exist and the unknown speices of animals. A few years back, I got myself an encyclopedia on the cryptozoology animals. Prehistoric animals which are thougth to be extinct are sighted in certain countries, creatures that are thought not to have existed at all are reported sighted and new species of animals are discovered, this is part of the cryptozoological research.

For those of you who are still quite unsure on what these type of animals are, here's a a fe examples:
  • Bigfoot
  • Loch Ness Monster
  • Mermaids
  • Skunk Ape
  • Coelacanth
The above mentioned are just some of the cryptozoological animals thought to had lived a few hundreds years ago or longer extinct or had never existed at all. Still, there are many sightings reported on the many animals in the history of cryptozoolgy.

Such famous sightings would be the infamous Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster and Sea Monster; both thought to be same extinct dinosaur that libed thousands of years ago as an extinct dinosaur by the name, Plesiosaur and of course the no other Chupacabra. An article that interests me was dated back to April 25, 1977. A fishing vessel by the named of Zuiyo-maru locally owned by the Taiyo Fishery Company Ltd. was fishing for mackerels about 30 miles east of Christchurch, New Zealand. When something had got entangled in their fishing net at the depth of 300 meters. When the fishermen pulled up the net, they were greeted by a foul stench. The picture on the right is taken by Michihiko Yano, an assistant production manager on the deck. Even though a picture was taken and believed to be the long extinct Plesiosaur, critics argues that it's a carcass of a shark. Whether anot shark or a sea creature, I leave the wonders of your imaginations to yourself.

I know the name Chupacabra sounds funny. The truth is, this cryptozoologic animal originally from Puerto Rico is a blood sucker which usually preys on the livestock of farmers; mainly on goats and sheeps and puncture holes can always be found on the neck of the livestocks. The blood will be sucked dry form the prey. Being described with a long snout, having short front legs and long back legs. Overall, it's still a mystery. Even so, the authorities believed that these are caused by the panthers which are illgeally brought into the country.

No further explanations on the Bigfoot as I am sure that everyone knows about it. From the sea monsters to the Japanese folklore Tengu, there's the Tsuchinoko thought to be extinct many years ago. The Tsuchinoko sounds like a Japanese dessert to me when I first heard about it but it's actually a reptile. Pictured left is the Tsuchinoko. A creature that is generally peaceful and dislikes undue attention. According to the Japaneses, there's a legend saying that Tsuchinokos have the ability to speak and a propensity for lying, as well as a taste for alcohol.

It's just some rough examples and fact that I want to share with everyone. I am really interested in all these sorts of things, the mysteries of the world. Supernatural and cryptozoology is of such example. Well then, that's all for now.

Cursed Belief

Category: By Jenson
For as long as I remember living in this beautiful world, I had never once doubt about the beautiful world we lived in. I grew up in a life where I would describe it as lucky and yet I once doubt that it was normal, on certain times below average. Well, there are people who grew up in a better life I would say. I am actually referring top those rich peeps out there. We are in fact lucky to live in this era and in this country. We grew up in our respective comfortable family lifestyle. Such a peaceful country indeed, free of any negative aspects; no earthquakes, no typhoons, no outbreaks and most importantly no war. [Just to name a few.] I grew up thinking that everyone in the world grew up in a life like the most of us do. But I was wrong. Many people out there aren't as lucky as we are. Some are born into a poor country, some born into a war-zone, while some born into country where catastrophic unstable nature elements hit frequently. Just to highlight on some particular countries.. Nothing isn't worse than what I came over today. I had actually knew this issue for quite some time but I thought it would be interesting to share with you guys.

I read through an online article after receiving an email from a friend of mine regarding the many child rapes in Africa. The email had a short story in it highlighting about a 9 month old baby girl being raped by 6 men in a precised and know location; Cape Town. These child rapes are all done as many African men believed that they could be cured of any diseases they had contracted; and among such disease would be the HIV AIDS. It is believed that the younger the infant is, the better the rate of being cured of the disease. I posted this not to mention on the HIV AIDS but on the disgraced acts of the men. Wait, Are they even qualified to be labeled as MEN?! I doubt that the word fiend would even suit them. Even serial rapist would think twice before raping a baby. Have they no brains or no pride in doing such evil deeds? For GOD's sake, it's a 9 month old baby!! This belief has infact led to an epidermic of rapes on infants by men that infected by HIV. What's worse is that when the child are born,

Where are all the heroes when we need one? Where are the leaders when such despicable act of cruelty happens in their own nation?! There are many volunteers out there giving their best to help those less unfortunate ones. The volunteer ones when often interviewed would give the same answer when being asked the question:

"What's the reason behind all these kindness?"

"It's my calling, I guess. It had always seemed like it was my duty."

Going to the infected areas itself to help care for the victims and most importantly provide them with what they needed most at the current sort of situation; HOPE. I am not the sort of person who just sits right in front of my computer and just complains or nag on issues like this. To be exact, I do donate to such organisations that aims to help these less unfortunate ones. Sadly, I had never tried to be a volunteer before. Perhaps it isn't my sort of calling. But, i just can't bear to sit back at home and do nothing. I just hope that those rich bastards out there would somehow snap out of it and realise what chaos the world is going through right this instant. Even though you can't get your self there to do something, your money could. Hope that you peeps would somehow provide Hope to those victims; especially Cape Town. Please. Help contribute some kindess to them.

-------------------------------------------

Come to think of it, I think I myself need some Hope as well...

Where is she?
