Cryptozoology

Category: By Jenson
Does the word Cryptozoology rings any bell? Cryptozoology is a research on animals that are thought to be extinct and animals that are thought to exist and the unknown speices of animals. A few years back, I got myself an encyclopedia on the cryptozoology animals. Prehistoric animals which are thougth to be extinct are sighted in certain countries, creatures that are thought not to have existed at all are reported sighted and new species of animals are discovered, this is part of the cryptozoological research.

For those of you who are still quite unsure on what these type of animals are, here's a a fe examples:
  • Bigfoot
  • Loch Ness Monster
  • Mermaids
  • Skunk Ape
  • Coelacanth
The above mentioned are just some of the cryptozoological animals thought to had lived a few hundreds years ago or longer extinct or had never existed at all. Still, there are many sightings reported on the many animals in the history of cryptozoolgy.

Such famous sightings would be the infamous Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster and Sea Monster; both thought to be same extinct dinosaur that libed thousands of years ago as an extinct dinosaur by the name, Plesiosaur and of course the no other Chupacabra. An article that interests me was dated back to April 25, 1977. A fishing vessel by the named of Zuiyo-maru locally owned by the Taiyo Fishery Company Ltd. was fishing for mackerels about 30 miles east of Christchurch, New Zealand. When something had got entangled in their fishing net at the depth of 300 meters. When the fishermen pulled up the net, they were greeted by a foul stench. The picture on the right is taken by Michihiko Yano, an assistant production manager on the deck. Even though a picture was taken and believed to be the long extinct Plesiosaur, critics argues that it's a carcass of a shark. Whether anot shark or a sea creature, I leave the wonders of your imaginations to yourself.

I know the name Chupacabra sounds funny. The truth is, this cryptozoologic animal originally from Puerto Rico is a blood sucker which usually preys on the livestock of farmers; mainly on goats and sheeps and puncture holes can always be found on the neck of the livestocks. The blood will be sucked dry form the prey. Being described with a long snout, having short front legs and long back legs. Overall, it's still a mystery. Even so, the authorities believed that these are caused by the panthers which are illgeally brought into the country.

No further explanations on the Bigfoot as I am sure that everyone knows about it. From the sea monsters to the Japanese folklore Tengu, there's the Tsuchinoko thought to be extinct many years ago. The Tsuchinoko sounds like a Japanese dessert to me when I first heard about it but it's actually a reptile. Pictured left is the Tsuchinoko. A creature that is generally peaceful and dislikes undue attention. According to the Japaneses, there's a legend saying that Tsuchinokos have the ability to speak and a propensity for lying, as well as a taste for alcohol.

It's just some rough examples and fact that I want to share with everyone. I am really interested in all these sorts of things, the mysteries of the world. Supernatural and cryptozoology is of such example. Well then, that's all for now.
